MBA Visit Olympic Capital

Date 16/11/2009

World Academy of Sport MBA students recently visited the Olympic Capital, Lausanne in Switzerland, as part of a two day International study tour.

Students were exposed to the International Sports World first visiting the World Cycling Centre in Aigle, home of the International Cycling Union (UCI). During this visit they received an overview of the operations of the UCI and the World Cycling Centre by Director of the Centre, Frederic Magne.

One of the students commented;
"It was great to see how an International Federation is articulating its vision through the provision of such an excellent facility as the World Cycling Centre with athletes from all around the globe to come and train".

From here students were hosted by the Academy Chairman and former Director General of the International Olympic Committee, Mr Francios Carrard in Lausanne.

The second day of the official visit took place in the Olympic Museum and study centre. This included an address from Mr Urs Lacotte, Director General of the International Olympic Committee.

On this address a student commented;
"It was great to hear from one of the administrative leaders of World Sport on their role and the industry and to be given the opportunity to talk one and one with him through this programme visit".

The World Academy of Sport MBA programme is currently a division of the Manchester Business School global MBA delivered on license by Manchester Business School.

The next visit is scheduled for November 2010.
