Global MBA for Sport and Major Events Essential Information Next Intake; July 2011 Duration; 3 years Locations; Self study distance learning blended with residential workshops in Manchester three times each year. Pre-requisites; A First degree or professional equivalent, plus 3 years of relevant work experience. Structure; This unique MBA programme has been developed to meet the changing needs of sport and event executives. Completed as a part-time course, this allows the career-orientated individuals to continue working whilst studying for an MBA from an internationally ranked establishment. Over the last three years the FT ranks Manchester Business School at an average position of 31 in the world. The 2010 Financial Times survey also ranks the Manchester Business School MBA as 7th in the UK, 15th in Europe and 40th in the world.  The programme uses the Manchester renowned 'Blended Learning', combining core modules of an MBA programme with sport and event specific industry case studies and projects developed with leading experts, giving this programme its unique positioning. Aims and Objectives; Participants will learn fresh management skills and techniques, and grow in knowledge, confidence and self-awareness. The blended learning format will allow students to reap immediate practical benefits through the application of their learning to their day-to-day role. Students will network with lecturers and fellow students from different countries and professional backgrounds, completing studies with a project stage which will bring together all learning to bear on a significant business issue within the sport and major events environment. Outcomes; Developed in partnership with International Sporiting Federations and through consultation with leading industry experts, this programme is recognised by International Sporting Federations as part of the requirements for continuing professional developemnt. The MBA will help Sport and Event executives make the final transition into effective sporting/event-business executives with the capacity to take on the most complex management issues the industry requires.
